I thought I'd post this photo of an altered Brookfield B&O next to a Grand Canyon beehive to support Dwayne's comment that sometimes Brookfield glass irradiates to a color resembling the steel blue Grand Canyon hives. I had this early Brookfield B&O irradiated as part of my research on these pieces for a CJOW article several years ago. When I first received this piece back from its radiation source it was a burnt amber color and I heat reversed it in an oven to this steel blue color. As Dwayne mentions in his ICON post, a secondary treatment "locks in" the color and this piece has shown no signs of reverting to its original aqua after the secondary treatment. |
