I have recently got these two big multiparts from a retired lineman, I don't know their origin. Maybe these were used in the past on some high voltage line dismantled many years ago, I know that in my region 60 kV powerlines were first built in 1910's - 1920's and after WWII pin insulators were all replaced with suspension insulators, later these lines were replaced by 132 kV, so it is reasonably possible that these insulators were manufactured in the 1910's-'20's. These two pieces luckily survived somewhere and a worker saved them from scrapping. Their appearance suggests they were manufactured in the USA, they could be rather old (1910's, 1920's?). I have accurately inspected their surface but I did not find any marking, no manufacturer's logo and/or manufacture date. Both are 4-parts cemented multiparts. The dark one is 38 cm high x 38 cm diameter (14.9" x 14.9"), weights 17 kgs (37.5 lbs) and the other is a little larger and heavier, 38 cm high x 39 cm diameter (14.9" x 15.35") and weights 18 kgs (39.7 lbs). Otherwise they are very similar, maybe the manufacturer was the same. I would appreciate any more informations about manufacturer, type and date if possible. |
