Fred Locke porcelain insulators were made to be tough out of high grade wet process porcelain. They withstand all manner of peril and keep on insulating. This insulator was found in Indian territory. Evidently the Indians were not very fond of electricity. Perhaps all those light bulbs in a nearby town created a low glow that obliterated many of the stars, which they loved to look at in the night sky. Porcelain has some flint in the composition, but evidently pure flint (arrowhead) is much stronger than porcelain. Nevertheless, this Fred Locke porcelain insulator withstood a direct attack. The arrowhead appears to have been stuck in the insulator for about 100 years without so much as cracking the porcelain. They don't make insulators like that anymore.
