Truly massive and impressively dead-ended, beefy two-conductored, double three-phase 345kv circuit right off I-287 in New York state. These lines head straight into lower voltage ConEd substations for transmission to NYC. The shown line is from a major junction in Poughkeepsie, NY. Bulk amounts of electricity is traded back and forth between Independent Service Operator (ISO) New York (ISO-NY) and ISO (New England) (ISO-NE) 24/7 upon lines like this. Estimated transmission capacity of this line is around 1600-2000 MW. Wow!! This photo and many others attributed to her thanks to Kathleen McLaughlin, Vernon, CT [id=310532489] as she tours with me about the countryside on her "bike".
