Is this a lightning rod ball? Or what is it?

Dimension are approximately 6 1/2" wide at the center of the globe and 9 1/2" tall. The holes are approx. 2" wide so it seems a little big for a lightning rod ball.

Okay I have been informed that it is not a recognized patter for LRB so I am changing the title to prevent any confusion. I am asking around about the fire grenade possibility. One other thought has crossed my mind. Weather vane ornament or lamp part.
