A complete suspension recently rescued: two chains of different color of suspensions manufactured in Germany (West) in 1951/1952 and used for a medium voltage line in north-eastern Italy. Double insulators are used when the line crosses roads or railways, this is a safety requirement in Italy. The whole assembly is very heavy, about 50 kg. Note the "spark gap" made with two steel rods, installed to protect the line from lightnings.
