On the way back from our tornado trip, we decided to "decompress" our emotions with an antique and junk shopping break. I found this 1950s or early 1960s Voice of Misic stereo console in the far back bowels of the building. It is in amazingly clean condition, and since there wasn't enough room in the crowded van, I will head back there on Saturday and "stake my claim". For this unit, and its excellent condition, the $75 price is a downright bargain, and I can probably haggle it down to even less. It looks pretty good from the front, let's take a better look inide and behind the front grilles... The top "drawer" and the two "doors" on the front are just for appearance, they do not open. I suppose that this bit of nonfunctional decoration was designed in order to give the console a bit higher WAF (Wife Approval Factor") so it would look like a piece of furniture, and not just another one of Dad's Electronic Toys ;-) |
