And The Rains Came

As the saying goes, "When it rains, it pours". Afghanistan gets a LOT of rain. Problem is, it all comes in February. Oceans of mud fill the roads. Floods wipe out villages and camps. There is no escape. The fine dust turns into a Portland cement-like quagmire that sticks to everything. And as quickly as the rains come, they go away. Here the last little pond of a one-time "lake" returns to its hardened state, only to be mashed again into dust, blown about the countryside for a year until another February comes around to stick it all down in the low spots to repeat the process. For reference, these cracks are some 4 to 6 inches deep.
