I was out digging through insulator boxes in my garage, and decided to post a photo (or two) of some of my porcelain 'fireplugs'. The Florida sunshine made the colors come out fine. These have various markings. They all refer to a patent dated April 12, 1910. The short ones are marked in a recess: UNIVERSAL NO. 1001. Most of the mid-sized ones are marked in a recess UNIVERSAL. Then in a seperate recess NO 1002. The long armed one in the back is marked in one recess UNIVERSAL NO 1003. Most also bear the previously mentioned patent date. Neat little porcelain pieces.
