In 1893 the Georgetown Electric Light and Power Company merged with the Gas Company and was named United Light and Power Company. In February of 1906 Green and Clear Lake Company, Cascade Electric Company, and United Light and Power Company merged to form United Hydroelectric Company. In July of 1916, the United Hydroelectric Company was bought by the Colorado Power Company, a conglomerate of several Colorado power companies. Colorado Power Company was renamed Public Service of Colorado in 1924 which, in turn, became a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, Incorporated in 1999. From the Larry Volmer Collection.
