Bigger isn't always better... These two tube amps were designed and built with compactness in mind. The one on the left is built on and in a cast aluminum box, the tubes are two 12B4As and one 12DT8. These tubes were commonly used in black and white TVs of the 1960s. This amp delivers about 1.6 watts per channel.

The one on the right uses two Russian 6Ф3П (6F3P), which is their equivalent of the 6BM8 / ECL82 which was often used in small tube stereo systems in the 1950s and 1960s. THis one has a new design which I developed back in the summer, and sounds very nice, even with only a couple of watts per channel. This may not sound like a lot of power, but with my 98 dB/W/meter efficient speakers, they can be impressiively loud, and clear!

Compare the size of the CD to the two amplifiers.
