I picked these Chanterelles this morning on a friend's property nearby - he won't touch the things, and he doesn't know what he is missing... These usually grow alongside small backwoods unpaved and gravel roads. THere are more just starting to sprout next to my driveway, they should be ready in a couple weeks. I first "discovered" then up in NH, and I'm happy to see them growing here in southwestern NC. http://mushroom-collecting.com/ Caution: The similar-looking [id=256582564; Jack-o-Lanterns] should be avoided, they are poisonous. These also grow in different kinds of locations, usually at the bases of trees, or on rotting logs. |
