ELK RUN COAL COMPANY

ELK RUN COAL CO. SD-10 show here at Precision National in Mt. Vernon, ILL.

Originally built as UNION PACIFIC SD-24 #421 (Serial #25379, Built 9/1959). Retired by UP 1977. Sold to Precision National in October of 1977. Unit was rebuilt by MORRISON-KNUDSON as #1851, a non-turbocharged, 1800 hp SD-10. Work completed on 3/7/1980. Sold to ELK RUN COAL CO. of Sylvester, WV in 1981 as their #1981. Colors are a tan scheme with a dark brown stripe and cab roof. Unit is now at Sidney Coal Co., Sidney, KY still in ELK RUN paint scheme and same number.
