An abandoned electric power substation of the Milwaukee Road R.R. in Gold Creek, Montana, 1989. The station equipment transformed 100,000 volts AC to 3300 volts DC to power the trains on this electrified portion of the line from Chicago to Seattle. The Milwaukee Road's flag fell in 1983 and all trains ceased operation. Some of these buildings are still standing today, since they were built like Fort Knox!
