My brother-in-law is a licensed falconer and he invited us out today with another hunter and his bird to see if there might be a rabbit or two that might be spared from suffering through a New Year. ;-| I'm not a hunter, but this has always been such a thrill to watch man and bird working together to bring in prey the way nature intended. Sam and his friend Andy each have Harris hawks currently. Since I've know Sam, he's had a couple Harris hawks, a Redtail or two, a Northern Goshawk and has been involved in researching Peregrine falcon migration by doing things like rappelling down cliffs in Greenland to band youngsters in nests.

This is Andy's bird, Jaden, a male, perched on my car raring to hit the bush.
