In response to the recent discussion on ICON about museums, here is a photo of donated insulators in use at the Oregon Electric Railway Museum in Brooks, OR. They are on a recreated replica of a typical 22,000 volt power line we built to simulate how power insulators were used on electric railways of the past to distribute A.C. power along the rail lines. Starting around 2001 we appealed to ICON to donate insulators to the museum for this line. The response was overwhelming and I can assure you that every donated insulator was installed on this line and the donor is mentioned on a pole tag along with a displayed list thanking them for their contribution. To see another shot of this line and a pole tag with a donor's name keep clicking NEXT. |
