The insulator on the far right met the concrete cement floor in my garage when I was trying to take it in a group picture with other milky insulators. If you can see the P shaped milk swirl in the dome you may recall seeing this insulator before. It's the one that encouraged me to buy two buckets full of insulators about a month ago. Or you may have seen it in the For Sale listings here at Icon. Not that it is anyones fault here, but I wish there was a best offer option when selling insulators. I thought I heard mention of there going to be at one point. Wonder what happened with that? Anyway, too bad this one has to go into my remnant pile.

The two CD 147 I found yesterday when I returned to a nieghboring town. I had a location picked out and was unable to hunt there being the track crew was in that area. I did have the oportunity to talk to a signal guy and question him about where the crossarms with insulators are taken if they are removed from the sight. He told me they save them and replace broken ones on the other side of the Hudson River. They must use them further down state. There are no signals used upstate NY where I'm located.

Anyhow, the one CD 147 has a nice stone in the dome and the one on the far right has a Window or small hole in the side. It is located just slightly over from the mold line on one side. I took a couple of these CD 147 from the same crossarm last week. I turned all the insulators to see if there was anything special last time out. Yesterday I took it a step further and held them all to the sun. That's when I discoverewd the air vent in this one. It is very small and maybe the pointed end of a pin will pass through.
