I found this crop of glowingly bright orange mushrooms sprouting from an old rotten fallen tree stump. They must have bloomed in the past few days, as I didn't see them om either lastSunday or Monday. The terrain here is very steep and "rugged" (and considering the big rattler I saw earlier in the week), I wasn't able to get in close, had to use my camera's telephoto mode, and fill-in flash. I could get about 15-20 feet from them, no closer. I did some on-line research at www.mushroom-collecting.com and these appear to be Jack O' Lanterns, which are poisonous. Pretty to look at, but stay away from them! They may look similar to [id=281791824; Chanterelles], but they should NOT be eaten! |
