This pole has all the original insulators. 42's, 45's and pyrex's. This part of the line had 4 circuits. Two sizes of solid copper wire, #8 and #10 were used for this line and the wire in these photos is #10. The four #8 copper conductors that were on the pyrex insulators were removed about 1992 as they were no longer needed. Many poles and cross arms were replaced at this time as well. To my knowledge, the right side of the cross arm was to be for future circuits that were never added. In June 1969 copper thieves stole about 7000 feet of wire from this line a few miles from this location where the line isn't near the highway. The line was still used for long distance at the time and it was reported that the two affected circuits went dead at 2AM. Crews were brought in from Salt Lake City to restring the wire. |
