The linemen are taking the final steps transferring over the wires. They accomplished this part in about 15 minutes and having "been there and done that" before, I can tell you that it's not as easy as it looks. You have to set the wire tension just right with the come-alongs and wire grips. Then cut and splice the wire for the correct length and make the proper tie-ins and new connections. This pole was also a ground point which had a No.6 copper wire stapled down the pole from the neutral to a ground rod at the base. All of this would have taken me at least an hour! A job like this goes pretty fast with a 5 person crew and a couple of trucks. They asked me if I wanted anything and I said "Sure, cut the pole off below the arm braces and leave it, I will take it apart and haul it over to my yard"! To see what I got..click NEXT. |
