This unusual activity took place April 24, 2009 and shows our members at the Oregon Electric Railway Museum in Brooks, OR. preparing British Columbia Electric Railway interurban streetcar 1304 for transport by trucks. We had to disconnect the motorized wheel trucks from the carbody and actually lift the body up with cranes. This car had been in our museum since 1957 and we ran it for many years. In the 1990's it developed electrical trouble and we were not able to find the scarce 1911 parts to put it back in service. The people in British Columbia had been interested in seeing the historic car "return home" for many years so we sold it to them and made their wish come true! It will be further restored to run on the original track it came from. For more details click NEXT. |
