Photographed with very dark clouds in the background and the pole line brightly illuminated by the sun directly behind the photographer in the Bonneville Flats vicinity of Utah. This line was constructed by the US Government in the early 1940s. It was over 1,000 miles long and its purpose was for back-up telephone communications during World War 2. DBR stands for Defense Backup Route. Very little of this magnificent and historic line remains. Please refer to some superb photos of it during its last days by searching the ICON PicturePoster by entering DBR.
