Here is one of several pictures of a nearly complete WESTON lightning rod system on a historic old home somewhere in southern Ohio. This slashtop is just on of 7 on the building, and 4 side tabs. These pieces are often attached with long square nails that can be difficult to pry out. You really have to be careful not to damage the glass base when removing them. I wonder what color this puppy is under all of those coats of paint!
