Here is a view showing the orange wire blankets to protect the Linemen from the live wires It turns out that the orange blankets are insulated for 20,000 volts, and they are changing that arm out hot. Note that they have installed a temporary fuse-holder in the tap (wire) to the transformer, and the wire is "Pigtailed" (coiled) so as to not interfere but still be long enough to stretch when they raise the three phase wires. The "cover-up" blankets are to keep them from becoming a path to ground for the voltage. Thanks to Douglas Moody for the help on what the orange covers are for. |
