This is a scarce lightning rod point from an Otis system. This likely dates from about 1851-1860s. This was found in New England on a 30 foot section of the square iron lightning rod. It is 9 3/8" long and is very beautifully weathered. I can not see any markings of any kind. The rod is made of iron and is 3/8" square. Purchased in February 2001.
