Norfolk Southern has recently acquired and rebuilt four of GM-EMD's "F" series locomotives. The Cab, or "A" units, Nos. 4270, and 4271, are classified as F9A's. The cab-less, or "B" units, Nos. 4275 and 4276, are classified as F7B's. Each of these four motors is at least fifty years old, having been built in, or shortly after 1950. Each is rated at 2,000 Horsepower, the equivalent of GM-EMD's GP38 and GP38-2.

NS train 975 is seen here in Waverly, Virginia, en route to Norfolk.
