Examples of threadless crossarm pins. The pin in the middle has a cap of gauze-like material and coated with a white caulking type bonding material to adhere the insulator to the pin. The piece on the right is the top of a pin with a burlap type wrap that created a tight friction fit for the insulator. This piece from the UPRR.
