Here is a picture taken by my friend, Scott Raetzloff, in Glen Carbon, IL in the early 1980s. The pole line on the left is for the adjacent Norfolk and Western Railway, the Chicago & Northwestern's poles are on the right with the two insulators. Illinois Central Gulf also joined in with the NW at this location for the rest of their trip into E. St. Louis. If you go to this location today, all three railroads are gone. The Norfolk Southern pulled up their track in 1999, as did Union Pacific. Ilinois Central Gulf pulled up in the early 1980s. The poles in this picture are long gone.
