the former Philadelphia & Western (now the SEPTA route 100) 200 class cars, called "bullets" because they were fast, very fast; able to reach 90 mph. I had a chance to run one of these late at night on its last inbound trip and kept it on the post the whole time; there is something exhilarating about cruising along at 75mph+ in the dark. Being electically powered, they were totally silent. The cars that replaced them struggle to reach 55 mph! This is progress?!?!
