This is the former Southern Pacific depot at Brooks, Oregon. It was moved to Antique Powerland Museum and restored several years ago. Antique Powerland Museum is about a mile west of the S.P line in Brooks. It is also the location of the Oregon Electric Railway Museum. A long time member named Harvey Hilands, now deceased, had asked if we, (the Electric Railway Line Dept.) would someday put up a triple cross arm line by the depot so the it would look like an old photo of the depot that he liked. This summer we extended the trolley line to the depot, and since we had the poles for the trolley wire, we finally honored his request and this is the result. Everyone is amazed at how much more authentic it looks around the depot with that "telephone pole" there! The track in this area is interesting. It is on concrete ties buried in the ground with the rails at grass level. This makes the rails much easier for people to walk over. |
