The short line Clarendon and Pittsford served the marble quarries in west central Vermont between Rutland, Proctor and Pittsford. It became a part of the Vermont Railway and most of the main C & P right of way was abandoned as the quarries closed and truck traffic made maintenance operational costs untenable. Here is a shot of the almost buried right of way where the C & P joined the Vermont Railway (formerly the Rutland Road) in Proctor. |
