I'm very limited in my knowledge of porcelain, and I first believed this was a U-196. Elton Gish was kind enough to address my question (see his post below) and correct me. It turned out to be a Thomas U-191A. It is an unembossed piece, crudely made. The porcelain coating is mottled and charmingly uneven in spots. A very cute little piece. This is one of a few interesting porcelain insulators I was lucky enough to have in my possession for just a few days before delivering them to their new owner. I liked them so much, I decided to photograph some of them and post them for reference. ------ Sandia, Your insulator is not U-196. U-196 is a 2-part glazeweld made by Fred Locke only in white. Your insulator is a dry process porcelain Thomas U-191A. Elton www.r-infinity.com |
