OK, now you can readily see that this piece is a three-part multi! About 20 of these in varying states of condition were rescued by a prominent northeastern US multipart collector back about 1990. He had known about these insulators in service for a long time and found out the line was going to be dismantled. To his chagrin, upon one weekend morning to check out the status of this line-to-be-doomed-to-be, the contractors indeed wrecked out the line leaving fallen poles and many broken insulators. Only a mere handful of these cool three-piece Victors survived. The crews cut down the poles throughout the rocky terrain otherwise leaving lots of porcelain shards. It is believed that this Victor-hand stamp multipart style has only been found in this location (northwestern MA near the VT line). |
