One thing the high country is uniquely noted for is the brilliant blue, crisp skies of winter. No, this photo is not doctored. The sky really is THAT blue! Better bundle up though, the bright sun is deceiving. In the background, the Continental Divide rises up as the Sangre de Cristo mountains where the railroad crosses at over 10,000 feet. The narrow gauge steam trains have been running here since 1880.
