A handful of the CD 267.5 insulators "rescued" by Joe Maurath, Jr. (and a couple other collectors locally) from the demolition contractor in charge of dismantling the "Orange Line" Elevated Railway (Boston) in 1988 were of this fat variety. Some of these have a crude or "whittle mold" appearance. The example shown otherwise is of fine quality. Other than these few unusual examples, nearly all N.E.G.M. Co. insulators known have excellent molding characteristics. |
