This is a CD 125 embossed "Hemingray / Made In U.S.A." on the front skirt and "No. 15" on the back skirt. The color is the deepest "Hemi Blue" or "Electric Blue" that I've ever seen on a Hemingray production insulator and has a "big" head"compared to other CD 125 insulators. In addition, this insulator also has the sharpest drip points and the largest "top" that I've ever seen on any Western Union style pony insulator. These were found on a section of the Central of Georgia Railway North of Byron, GA. I'm fairly sure they must have been replacements. It looked like a crate of these was opened and used on a quarter mile section of the telegraph line. I probably recovered and traded some 15 to 20 into the hobby. Like the one in the photo, most of these insulators had broken drip points along with rim fractures. |
