This nearly perfect CD 731 was dug in a dump in St. Louis a couple of years ago. When I obtained it, there was still a few inches of threadless pin left. The pin had a gauze-like cloth material wrapped around it, and some hardened glue-type substance on it. The top of the pin is very narrow compared to the later threaded pins that I have. From the amount of residue left on the pin, it looks like it was applied liberally before the cloth was wrapped around it. See picture #2 for a close up view of the cloth and pin.
