The style pony was used extensively in Northeast Texas on the lines of Gulf States Telephone. This piece came from Cooper, Texas about 80 miles northeast of Dallas which was a stop on the Texas Midland Railroad. Similar units were also located further down the line in Quinlan, Texas but would have been associated with local telephone exchanges instead of the railroad.
