This is a CD 134 embossed OAKMAN PATd SEPT 13. 81. in a nice medium blue aqua - more of a sky blue color. This is one of a kind and was found on the Central of Georgia Railway telegraph line North of Macon, GA. The CD 134 American's tend to chip around the edge of the done near the wire groove. Like the light mint green CD 134 American shown in the previous photo, this CD 134 Oakman has one or two small chips on the edge of the dome - probably vnm for this insulator. The section of line North of Macon, GA ran to Barnesville, GA and than turned to Griffin, GA and than went North to Atlanta, GA. I'll talk more about this line in later posts when I document the early signal style used in Georgia. For now, I would note that the character of the telegraph line was different North of Macon. No CD 127's were used and there were fewer CD 145 W. Brookfield. There were a lot of CD 126's on this Western Union line along with many early CD 133 Brookfield as well as several different types of CD 131's. I found no CD 131's on the line which went South out of Macon. |
