Embossing:

(F-Crown) (Arc) W. BROOKFIELD / 4 / 55 FULTON ST / N.Y. (R-Crown) (Arc) CAUVET'S / PAT / JULY 25 1865 {MLOD} SB

Distinguishing Mold Characteristics - Number:

Open 4 centered under the second O in BROOKFIELD and over the open part of the L in FULTON.

Distinguishing Mold Characteristics - Front:

Short F pointing down to right in FULTON. Space between ST in ST.

Distinguishing Mold Characteristics - Back:

5 is only big number in 1865.

Comments:

I know of only 2 different molds with the number 4. On some insulators from this mold number, the faint small typewriter type embossing can be seen on the back. My conjecture is that these are earlier pieces. As the molds became worn, this embossing was obliterated. They are listed in the price guide as [229] but are the same exact insulator. If anyone has a mold from this series that I have not documented on these pages or pieces they are interested in selling, please contact me.
