Interesting Porcelain Piece

I recently received this from a line crew dismantling a small, urban telephone line from the early 20th century. I'll probably be posting some pictures of other stuff from the line soon enough, but since all the good stuff is either still dirty or in an Oxalic acid bath, this'll have to hold you off until then. I understand that the copper rod is supposed to be a lightning rod, it's marked SLATER, and is made of solid copper. It's mounted on a regular, modern OB unipart by means of an iron U-bolt.
