I have 7 Armstrong insulators that have a white residue i guess you could call it all over them. i soaked them in lye for a good 2-3 weeks and scrubbed them pretty good but it wont come off. anyone have any idea what this stuff is and if there is anyway to get it off? thanks

No one answered my question, but after sometime in the hobby I have come to learn that these will not clean up. The "glass sickness" these have is from acid or some other chemical corroding the glass.
