This small strain Hewlett was used by Italian State Railways on 3kV DC electrified railroads for trolley wire pull-offs. Still a few can be seen in service although compositions are replacing all porcelain on Italian railroads. This item has been manufactured by Ceramica Ligure of Genua, that also marked its products with a V Genova in a rectangle.
